Homework:
**I send home a Homework Assignment Sheet every Wednesday. Please read and sign the sheet each night. Take notice of special dates and events. Homework will be assigned on Wednesday and is expected back the following Tuesday.



What We Are Learning:

Reading: We are beginning a unit on research.   Reading End of Year Benchmark is 4/28.

Writing/Grammar: We are beginning a unit on research. This will go hand-in-hand with our reading unit.

Math: We are learning how to find area of a rectangle and how to tell time to the nearest minute.  Math Benchmark is 5/12

Science: We are exploring food chains and habitats. Benchmark is 5/14.

Social Studies: We are learning how to research important historical figures. Benchmark is 5/21.


Accelerated Reading Timeline:

In Second Grade, students must obtain 50 AR points by May in order to attend the Rockin Reader Carnival. After reading or listening to an AR book students can take an online comprehension quiz on a school computer. I keep a timeline for my students in my room. At the end of the month those who achieve their monthly goal will receive a small reward.

September: 7 points
October: 12 points
November: 20 points
December: 25 points
January: 30 points
February: 35 points
March: 40 points
April: 45 points
May (by Rockin Reader date): 50 points
